The Bearpark Foundation was established in 1997 to support coaching education in British Columbia as an ongoing memorial legacy to Bob Bearpark. As a former Canadian national soccer coach and Director of BC Sport Services, Bob was devoted to the ongoing professional development of coaching in Canada.

The Bob Bearpark Bursary Awards, founded by the Coaches Association of BC and funded by the Bearpark Foundation, supports high performance coaches, female coaches, aboriginal coaches, coaches of athletes with a disability and coaches with a disability.

Professional Development Fund for Advancing Gender Equity in Sport

viaSport is leading the development of a sport sector for British Columbia that is committed to upholding a balanced representation of gender in sport.

The Professional Development Fund for advancing gender equity in sport looks to build leadership throughout B.C. by providing funding for individuals to attend courses, conferences or alternative training. These educational opportunities will inspire participants to be leaders in their community and advocate for equitable sport opportunities.

The Province of BC continues to invest and fund event hosting through the Hosting BC grant program to facilitate economic and community development brought forth through notable sporting events.

Eligible applicants are invited to apply for Hosting BC funding of up to $35,000 depending on the type of event (see full program guidelines, Appendix 2, for eligibility).

Coaches BC Legacy Fund

Coaches BC Legacy Fund

The Coaches BC Legacy Fund was set up in 2013 with the goal of encouraging more community level coaches to become involved, to further their education, and to receive training and/or certification. As a result, four coach grant categories have been created to assist provincial sport organizations, community clubs and coach developers. 

Eligible applicants are invited to apply with the intent of utilizing/distributing it to coach developers as grants ranging from $100- $600.

Jade is PacificSport VI’s Marketing and Communications Lead, and is a former PacificSport sponsored athlete. She grew up in Nanaimo playing soccer, volleyball, basketball, and track and field, before specializing in the discus throw, and pursuing a collegiate sports career. She is currently on Maternity Leave and has handed over the MarComm reigns to Evelina Lamu.

Administrative Coordinator

Jeannie is PacificSport VI’s Administrative Coordinator and runs the day-to-day operations of the PacificSport VI office. She is a former athlete, coach, and official with multiple sports, and has years of experience as a sport administrator. As an athlete she played badminton for Malaspina College, earning a national silver medal during her time with the program. As a coach she has led young athletes through their developmental years in multiple sports, most recently as an Athletics coach, where she led multiple track and field athletes to provincial and national medals.

James Ingersoll | Baseball
James is a dedicated athlete who is always training hard, looking to improve his fitness. He is focused on his sprint training as it pertains directly to his sport of baseball and always strives to be the fastest during each of our training sessions. A true leader in terms of dedication to training, James is always willing to help out the younger athletes. James is a true ambassador for the North Island IGNITE program.

Jakob Yells | Mountain Bike

Jake is is a very hard working, dedicated athlete who is new to our program this session.  A coachable athlete who is constantly looking to improve form and technique, Jake brings a strong dertmination to each training session.  In Februrary 2017, Jake took the intermediate men's title at the Island Cup race at Bear Mountain Resort.  Congratulations Jake!
