Psychology of Performance
Coaches looking to increase their knowledge on the role that mental training can impact their coaching practice are encouraged to take this course. Coaches will enhance their learning in key mental training areas around vizualization, focus strategies, goal setting, and communication.
Completing Psychology of Performance will allow you to:
- Helf athletes learn to manage distractions and use visualization techniques to prepare themselves technically and tactically for training and competition;
- Learn how to work with athletes or teams to identify performance and process goals related to their ability to focus on performance;
- Learn debriefing skills that can be used to help athletes assess their performance in both training and competition.

About the facilitator; Geoff Hackett:
Geoff is PacificSport VI’s Mental Performance Coordinator and works with athletes and coaches across Vancouver Island as a Mental Performance Consultant. He has a Master’s degree in Sport Psychology from the University of Windsor and recently earned professional designation with the Canadian Sport Psychology Association. Geoff is an active member of the soccer community on Vancouver Island, playing goalkeeper for the Nanaimo United Football Club’s Division 1 men’s team. Geoff also works for Nanaimo United Football Club as their U11-U18 Head Coach, and is a well-established goalkeeper coach, committing countless hours to developing the position at a youth level.
