What is PacificSport VI WheelKids?

A FUNdamental wheeling skills program for kids with locomotor disability aged 5-12!

PacificSport Vancouver Island and Nanaimo Ladysmith School District #68 are proud to partner with the Nanaimo Child Development Centre and Let’s Play to deliver PacificSport WheelKids; an exciting physical literacy program for kids aged 5-12. Before kids learn to play “traditional” sports such as basketball or rugby, they must first learn how to maneuver their chairs, how to throw, how to catch, and how to rely on their teammates.

Through active games and play, our PacificSport WheelKids program provides FUNdamental movement skills in a safe, fun, and encouraging environment for all kids. In addition to learning valuable fundamental wheeling skills, kids will also take part in sports such as basketball, tennis, rugby, track and field throughout the weeks!

Participants may register alone, or may invite a sibling or close friend to register as well to share in the fun! Additional chairs for siblings and friends are provided by PacificSport Vancouver Island and Let’s Play. All participants (wheelchair-user or not) are required to register for the sessions individually.

We gratefully acknowledge the funding for this program from the Province of BC After School Sport and Art Initiative Program.
